Jonathan Weltz, D.O., is a board-certified hematologic oncologist at Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute and is fluent in English and conversational Hebrew.Prior to joining Lynn Cancer Institute, Dr. Weltz completed a clinical fellowship in hematology-oncology at New York University Langone Long Island School of Medicine.Dr. Weltz earned his osteopathic medicine degree from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Weltz has spent considerable time conducting hematology-oncology research and presenting at national conferences, including the American Society of Hematology. He finds it particularly gratifying when he can contribute to research that has a direct impact on treatment for cancer patients and has authored publications in Blood, Nature, Journal of Clinical Oncology as well as Expert Review of Hematology. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Osteopathic Association.Dr. Weltz is passionate about hematology-oncology and is grateful to play a pivotal role with patients throughout the course of their treatment. His approach to patient care is based on joint decision-making, believes in working closely with his patients while providing them with the latest information and data they need to make active, informed decisions in line with their life goals. In his free time, Dr. Weltz is devoted to spending time with his wife and two daughters and enjoys outdoor activities such as running, biking and hiking.

He has been the site principal investigator for large, national cooperative group studies and has also designed and implemented trials focused on advancing new and more effective treatments for patients. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Mathew believes a multidisciplinary approach to treatment is crucial for cancer care. His approach to patient care involves working together with the rest of the cancer care team — from surgeons to social workers — to ensure that patients have a strong support network during treatment. In his free time, Dr. Mathew enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons. His favorite activities include going to the beach, playing tennis and golfing.
