St John's Monastery & Bakery

St. John the Forerunner Greek Orthodox Monastery, founded in 1995 by Doctor Gerald Timmer's donation to the Greek Orthodox Diocese of San Francisco, is a women's monastic community located in Goldendale, WA. Established with the guidance of Geronta Ephraim, a former abbot from Holy Mount Athos, the monastery is dedicated to prayer, spiritual guidance, and the preservation of Orthodox traditions.

With a dedicated community of 20 nuns and novices, the monastery supports itself through the traditional crafts of Orthodox monastic life, including writing Byzantine icons, making incense, and baking Greek pastries. Their gift shop offers a variety of handcrafted items, reflecting the sisters' devotion and artistry while inviting the faithful and curious visitors to engage with the Orthodox faith.
