Friends of the Huckleberry, established in July 1991, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building and maintaining the Huckleberry Trail, which connects the communities of Blacksburg and Christiansburg, Virginia. Over the past 30 years, they have collaborated with both private and public partners to raise funds, acquire real estate, and construct a 15-mile paved trail that serves as a central feature in a broader 60-mile trail system.
The organization emphasizes community engagement and support for trail-related projects through initiatives like the #GiveLocalNRV campaign. Their efforts not only promote outdoor recreation but also foster connections among local communities by improving access to various scenic trail networks.
