Matthew T. Sweney

Lorenzo Botto, MD, is a professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He trained in Europe and the United States in Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology, and Medical Genetics, with further subspecialty training in Biochemical Genetics. He trained in and practiced epidemiology and public health at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (EIS and preventive medicine program) for over a decade. In the clinic Dr Botto focuses in particular on three areas: (a) diagnosis and care of people with undiagnosed or rare conditions; (b) skeletal dysplasias (genetic disorders of the bone), (c) inherited metabolic diseases (particularly those that affect the brain, the heart, and the production of energy).

Robert G. Gray, MD is Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories of the University of Utah at Primary Children’s Hospital. Dr. Gray is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist who provides general cardiology care to children with all forms of heart disease. His subspecialty clinical expertise is in the performance of diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures in children and adults with structural heart disease. Dr. Gray’s clinical interests include general Pediatric Cardiology as well as Interventional Cardiology in children and adults with congenital heart disease.Dr. Gray’s research interests are presently focused on clinical research concerning Interventional Cardiology.

Dr. Hamaker completed his training, including medical school, residency and fellowship, at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Following fellowship training, Dr. Hamaker accepted a position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics with the University of Utah School of Medicine. He is board certified in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology. Dr. Hamaker’s early research experiences in residency and fellowship included pediatric type 2 diabetes and the metabolic syndrome. He has completed scholarly work in the area of resident education and online curricula. Currently he is devoted full-time to clinical care. His fluency in Spanish has provided him with extensive experience in caring for Spanish-only speaking families and patients. In addition to treating general conditions encompassed by pediatric endocrinology and diabetes, he has a special focus on patients with Cystic Fibrosis-Related Diabetes. In 2018, he began collaborating with the Cystic Fibrosis Center at Primary Children’s Hospital. He has since participated in a regular multi-specialty clinic that provides comprehensive care for patients with Cystic Fibrosis-Related Diabetes.
