Leonora R. Slatnick

Luke O. Buchmann, MD is a Professor of Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Utah. Dr. Buchmann's clinical practice involves the diagnosis and surgical management of head and neck neoplasms including those of the upper aerodigestive tract, salivary glands, thyroid and the neck. He has additional expertise in microvascular reconstruction following head and neck cancer surgery. Research interests include evaluating functional outcomes following head and neck cancer surgery including swallowing, quality of life outcomes, and the evaluation of patient levels of psychological distress surrounding their cancer diagnosis. He completed his residency at the University of Kansas, and a fellowship in Head & Neck Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Buchmann has published in numerous medical journals and serves on a national committee related to head and neck cancer. Dr. Buchmann enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, and camping. He and his wife have two wonderful children.

Jane Porretta, M.D. is a board certified general surgeon specializing in breast surgery. She received her medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI graduating with honors. She completed her surgical training at the University of Utah School of Medicine. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Dr. Porretta's focus is on the surgical treatment and diagnosis of breast cancer. She served as medical director of a community breast center before joining the Huntsman Cancer Institute breast cancer team. She practices techniques in breast cancer surgery for improved cosmetic outcomes including oncoplastic procedures in breast conservation and nipple and skin sparing mastectomies. She has additional training and certification in breast ultrasound and uses this in the clinic and operating room for diagnostic assistance and improved tumor localization. Since joining the University of Utah and the Huntsman Breast Surgery Group Dr. Porretta has expanded the surgery program in the South Jordan and Farmington Health Center facilities making access to advanced clinical care available to patients living in these communities. Dr. Porretta has been instrumental in bringing new techniques and technologies in breast surgery to the University of Utah/Huntsman facilities. She has supported clinical research enrolling patients in appropriate clinical trials from all Huntsman clinical locations. Though Dr. Porretta has a special interest in breast surgery, she has extensive experience in general surgery practice. She has been operating for over 25 years performing laparoscopic and open surgical procedures including gallbladder surgery, hernia repair, abdominal procedures, subcutaneous and soft tissue mass excision,lymph node surgery, and placement of intravenous access ports. Dr Porretta has a busy general surgery practice at the University's South Jordan Health Center.

John D. Morris, M.D., ScM received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Presbyterian Hospital Weill-Cornell Medial Center in New York. Dr. Morris completed both a general gastrointestinal and Advanced Endoscopy fellowship at University of MD Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Morris is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University Of Utah School Of Medicine in Salt Lake City, UT. Working primarily at the University Of Utah School Of Medicine’s Huntsman Cancer Institute and University of Utah Main Hospital Dr. Morris focuses his clinical, educational, and research efforts on the diagnosis and management of patients with gastrointestinal cancers and complex gastrointestinal disease, with an emphasis on therapeutic endoscopy.
