Josephine Abraham MD, MPH is a Nephrologist and Professor of Medicine, at the University of Utah School of Medicine. In 1981, she began her undergraduate and medical training at the University of Madras, India which she completed in 1987. After training briefly in the United Kingdom and completing a Masters in Public Health at the University of Utah, she went on to finish her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine in 2004. She continued at the University of Utah to complete a Nephrology Fellowship in 2006. Upon completion of her fellowship, she practiced nephrology for five years before returning to the University of Utah in 2011. She is the Clinical Chief for the Division of Nephrology and is a former Nephrology Fellowship Training Program Director at the University of Utah School of Medicine. She is the Medical Director of the Home Dialysis Program and the Acute Dialysis Program at the University Hospital. Dr Abraham is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Her clinical interests include various aspects of kidney disease particularly Glomerulonephritis, Vasculitis, Secondary hypertension, Onco nephrology including Amyloidosis and Home Dialysis.

After completing her medical degree at the University of Chicago, she moved to the University of Utah for her residency and fellowship in complex family planning. Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Kaiser is an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine. She is the Ryan Residency Program Director and the Director of the Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic. Dr. Kaiser’s research interests are varied and include novel contraceptives, miscarriage management, surgical education, and the history of women’s health. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, hiking, and camping with her family, knitting, and cooking.
