Evelyn C. Loose

Dr. Colonna specializes in Acute Care Surgery which is composed of Trauma Surgery, Emergency General Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care. His clinical practice includes the University Hospital SICU and the University Trauma and Emergency Surgery (UTES) service. Dr. Colonna also has a General Surgery Clinic focused on basic general surgical pathology with a special interest in complex abdominal wall hernias. He is originally from South Carolina and completed his General Surgery Residency at East Tennessee State University. He went on to complete Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowships at Wake Forest University. After a brief detour in private practice, Dr. Colonna joined the faculty at the University of Utah in 2012. Dr. Colonna has been Army Reservist since 2003 and holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He has completed multiple deployments to the Middle East to serve as a trauma surgeon taking care of the combat wounded, most recently to Iraq in 2023-2024 where he served as Trauma Medical Director for Operation Inherent Resolve. Dr. Colonna has a focus on medical education, having previously directed the MS-3 and MS-4 surgery clerkships, and is the program director of the SCC/ACS fellowships. His research interests include cost-effectiveness analysis, educational research with a focus on simulation, and acute care surgery/trauma. Dr. Colonna is the inaugural Emergency Surgery Medical Director and is working toward EGS verification by the American College of Surgeons. Finally, he serves has the chair of the Utah State COT.

Cori Agarwal, M.D., is a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. She has a special interest in facial cosmetic surgery including facelifts and rhinoplasty and spent an additional year training with one of the world renowned facial cosmetic surgery, Dr. Jack Owsley. She enjoys all aspects of cosmetic surgery including breast and body contouring, particularly as part of a "mommy makeover" or after weight loss. Additionally, Dr. Agarwal performs reconstructive surgery on a broad range of traumatic and cancer deformities. She has a special interest in gender affirming surgery, specifically transmasculine chest wall reconstruction ("top surgery") and vaginoplasty for transgender patients. Dr. Agarwal lives in Salt Lake City with her husband, Jay, and their two teenage children. She enjoys running and hiking in the summer, skiing in the winter, reading, and spending time with her family. Dr. Agarwal is currently welcoming new patients, and accepts most insurance plans.

This center offers heart care ranging from cardiology to heart surgery and care for vascular diseases (circulation) are all provided at the center. There are both inpatient and outpatient services—hospital and clinic services.
