A. Michael Henrie

Dr. Chalmers is the Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs for the University of Utah Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He focuses on the care of all shoulder and elbow problems, from young athletes to shoulder arthritis. His practice includes minimally invasive arthroscopy, ligament and tendon repair, and joint replacement. As a former coach and division I athlete, Dr. Chalmers knows the importance of getting back on the field. He sees patients at the University Orthopaedic Center, the South Jordan Health Center, and Primary Children's Hospital. He serves as the team physician for Salt Lake City Bees triple-A baseball team and the University of Utah baseball team. Dr. Chalmers graduated magna cum laude as a dual major in Biology and Biophysical Chemistry at Dartmouth College. He attended medical school at Columbia University in New York City, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Dr. Chalmers completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he received multiple teaching and research awards. He completed his fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at Washington University in Saint Louis. Dr. Chalmers is a native of Portland, Oregon. He enjoys hiking and skiing with his wife, who is an oncologist at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Nicholas Spina, MD, is a member of the University Of Utah Department Of Orthopaedic Surgery. He specializes in degenerative, traumatic, and oncologic conditions of the spine including lumbar stenosis, cervical myelopathy, and scoliosis. He employs a conservative approach in treating the spine. Dr. Spina’s focus is in restoring patients’ function and helping them to regain their optimal lifestyle. Dr. Spina graduated magna cum laude from Boston College. He attended the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and the Harold Henderson Sankey MD Award recipient for the outstanding graduating medical student in Orthopaedics. He stayed on to complete his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University Of Pittsburgh Medical Center where he held the position of chief resident and was selected by his mentors and peers as the outstanding graduating resident. He followed his residency with an Orhtopaedic spine fellowship here at the University of Utah. He spent one year as faculty in the University Of Washington Department Of Orthopaedics before returning to join the University of Utah department. Dr. Spina is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He enjoys escaping into the mountains whether it be mountain biking, skiing, or hiking. He is currently seeing patients at the University Orthopaedic and Farmington Health Center. Stuart Willick, MD is a fellowship trained, board certified sports medicine physician. He has worked with numerous elite sports organizations, including the University of Utah, United States Ski and Snowboard, US Speedskating, the US Bobsled and Skeleton Federation, USA Climbing and the International Olympic and Paralympic Medical Committees. Dr. Willick helps athletes of all ages recover from their sports injuries and stay healthy and active.
