It conducts residential security inspections and offers copies of accident and police reports. The department operates criminal investigation, communication and reserve units. The Windcrest Police Department provides information related to emergency situations, identity theft, and personal and child safety. It hosts the Crime Stoppers program, which allows individuals to recognize criminals and receive rewards in return. The department also supports Help End Auto Theft (H.E.A.T.), which is a statewide vehicle registration program administered by the Texas Department of Public Safety that helps law enforcement officials identify stolen vehicles. The Windcrest Police Department maintains a records division that ensures the accuracy of data entry, processes open records requests, completes and submits reports, retrieves data and researches activities, as well as assists the communication office.
