Texas Legislative Council

The Texas Legislative Council provides bill drafting, computing, research, publishing and document distribution services to the Texas Legislature and legislative agencies. It also serves as an information resource for state agencies and the citizens of Texas. The council s staff is organized into several divisions, such as administration, document production, information systems, legal and research. The Texas Legislative Council works under the guidance of a 14-member governing body that includes a lieutenant governor and the speaker of the House of Representatives. Its document production division deals in text and data input, proofreading, graphic design and layout, printing and photocopying, and delivery and distribution support for the preparation of council documents. The council additionally drafts and edits legislative and other legal documents, including joint resolutions, floor and committee amendments and conference committee reports. The Texas Legislative Council is located in Austin, Texas.
