Transportation Department

Texas Department of Transportation is a state agency responsible for constructing and maintaining national, interstate and state highways, and roads in Texas. The department also registers motor vehicles, provides travel information, and licenses automobile dealers. It is governed by a five-member Texas Transportation Commission appointed by the governor. The transportation department offers various services, including aviation, bridge, business opportunity programs, civil rights, construction, design, environmental affairs, finance, general counsel, government and business enterprises, human resources, information systems, and international relations programs. It also provides maintenance, motor carrier and vehicle, public information and transportation, research and technology implementation, right-of-way, traffic operations, transportation planning and programming, travel, and vehicle title services.
