Rupa Mahadevan, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained pediatrician. Her clinical interests include general pediatrics, nutrition and health, childhood stress reduction, integrative medicine, mind-body medicine, culinary medicine, and clinical hypnosis. She’s also an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and a culinary medicine instructor with UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. Mahadevan received her medical degree from George Washington University in 2013. She completed her pediatric residency in Chicago at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in 2016. She completed fellowship training in integrative medicine at Northwestern Medicine Osher Center in 2017 and the University of Arizona College of Medicine in 2018. She’s trained in shared medical visits, nutrition, integrative oncology, clinical hypnosis, and mind-body medicine. Before joining UTHealth Houston, Mahadevan was co-director of the Cancer Survivorship and Lifestyle Medicine Clinic at Louisiana State University, during which time she taught culinary medicine for four years.

She further sought a specialized fellowship in pediatric craniofacial surgery at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, with Emory University, refining her expertise in pediatric and craniofacial surgery. She treats children of all ages and even offers prenatal appointments for families with ultrasound findings of cleft or other craniofacial differences. While much of her practice focuses on children, she does extend her expertise to adults with congenital differences or complex facial trauma. Outside of work, Sobol enjoys being outdoors, traveling, sampling Houston’s vibrant food scene, and spending time with her loving family and puppy.
