The Austin History Center Association (AHCA) serves as the nonprofit partner of the Austin History Center, preserving and sharing the diverse history that has shaped Austin's impact since 1839 on Texas, the nation, and the world. Through fundraising, exhibits, and campus enhancements, AHCA ensures that Austin's history is accessible and celebrated for generations to come.
Founded in 1979 by a dedicated group of Austinites, including Sue McBee, Katherine Drake Hart, and Bob Coffee, AHCA plays a vital role in securing funding, expanding collections, and increasing public access to Austin's history. Beyond preservation, AHCA actively promotes Austin's history through public events, educational programs, and publications, ensuring that the city's past is not only archived but actively shared.
Committed to amplifying historically underrepresented voices and broadening the narrative of Austin's evolving story, AHCA invites individuals to join in protecting the past and shaping the future of Austin's history, sustaining one of Texas's most important historical institutions.

Not a destination in of itself. The SXSW exhibit was only about 3 stations. The Austin Civil War is a dozen photographs. Probably great for research or an event.
