In 1997, the two facilities were combined to form what is now Marion County Medical Center. A brand new facility was built on Highway 76, between Marion and Mullins, providing a convenient location for area residents while maintaining room for necessary expansion. The new facility was comprised of 216, 500 square feet and 124 acute-care beds. Its innovative "Medical Mall", a first for the area, offered individuals and families a full array of services in a friendly and convenient atmosphere. A Helipad, adjacent to the Hospital, was another area first, and was a major breakthrough in providing residents of the Pee Dee the best medical care available. Today this 124-bed/Joint Commission * Accredited facility is home to the region's most advanced medical equipment and skilled physicians and surgeons representing a multitude of specialties.
