Under the stewardship of James D. "JD" Miller and Margaret, the funeral home saw steady growth and enhancements, including the construction of the north wing in 1961. In 1980, Rimersburg native Richard D. Hillis took over, later renovating the building in 2000 to include a new arrangement office and family center. With a legacy of compassion, local resident Larry Bliss, who joined the team in 1993, became a licensed funeral director in 1996. In 2010, Dick sold the business to Jack Bauer, leading to the renaming as Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home.
