Dr. Gertrude A. Barber National Institute, founded in 1990 and located in Erie, Pa., offers a wide range of social, medical and health care services to physical and mental disabilities. The institute offers a variety of services that includes early intervention for infants and toddlers, inclusive preschool, Autism Center of Excellence, private school, job training and placement, residential options, including community group homes, supported living programs, in-home services, specialized and behavioral therapies, creative arts program, and retirement center services. The institute organizes various fund-raising and donation programs. It additionally provides 24-hour nursing and emergency rehabilitation services to the community.
