The Trolley Trail, spanning six miles and established in 2012, intricately weaves through the neighborhoods of Milwaukie, Oak Grove, and Gladstone, following the historic path of a streetcar line. The master plan for the trail meticulously outlines its alignment, incorporating environmentally conscious design elements, various amenities, and safety measures along the corridor.
Designed to seamlessly connect residential areas, green spaces, educational institutions, and commercial establishments, the Trolley Trail enhances local wetlands, augments drainage systems, and preserves natural resources. It offers a visually appealing and secure pathway for pedestrians, joggers, cyclists, skaters, and even equestrians, with inclusive facilities for individuals with disabilities.
A collaborative endeavor, the Trolley Trail project is a product of joint efforts between North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District, Metro, and a host of community stakeholders. Partnerships with local municipalities, county authorities, and citizen-led organizations like Friends of the Trolley Trail have been instrumental in the development and ongoing management of this scenic trail.
