History
I have been a practicing physician for 30+ years, and have been involved in pain treatment for the past 15 years. Currently I am vice-president of the Pain Society of Oregon, and participate in training other docs on how to deal with pain in their patients. I have extensive background in Occupational Medicine, which is what I am boarded in, and have run Occ Med departments at The Corvallis Clinic, PeaceHealth in Eugene and for Kaiser Permanente in Maui, HI. My initial training was in The Netherlands where I became a Family Practitioner. Our training included such topics as nutrition, addiction and mental health. Like many Dutch Docs, being on call sometimes meant riding a bike to patients' homes to serve them. All our trainings centered on the patients. When I moved to the United States in 1981 I took another residency in Occupational Medicine at the University of Illinois. I recently left Pain Management Partners in Eugene to start my own solo micro-practice.
Specialties
As a European and American trained physician, I blend techniques and combine the tools of scientific medicine with the arts of healing. My specialty is pain prevention and non-invasive management of chronic pain, with the goal of supporting optimal function, mobility and health in my patients. My doctor bag includes medications - when appropriate--along with acupressure, and trigger point injections to break up scar tissue and myofascial pain. I consider myself one member of
