The Hower House Museum in Akron, Ohio, is a historical landmark completed in 1871 by John Henry Hower, a prominent industrialist in Akron. Designed in the Second Empire Italianate style by architect Jacob Snyder, this 28-room mansion boasts a unique floor plan based on the “Akron Plan.” The mansion is filled with treasures and furnishings collected by the Hower family from around the world.

Dedicated to preserving the history of the Hower Family, the museum offers insights into the family's legacy through collaborations with the University of Akron. Students can engage in research projects such as "Acting Like a Hower" and "Menus and Manuscripts," exploring various aspects of the family's history and contributions. The museum also hosts events and tours for visitors to experience the rich heritage of the Hower House.

This historic house museum at the University of Akron is almost entirely volunteer-run and lovely to visit any time of year, but especially at Christmas because it is fully decorated.
