UNC Health Pain Management at Southeastern Health Park

I strive to practice medicine by promoting professionalism characterized by humility, empathy, accountability and resilience. I am passionate about helping active individuals of all ages, especially injured middle school, high school, college, and professional athletes get back to sports safely and quickly. I value every athlete by providing state-of-the-art operative and nonoperative treatment. My research in sports injury risk, prevention, and management allow the athletes to actively participate in their sport long term. Performing anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and knee ligament reconstructions, cartilage and meniscus transplants, and knee restoration surgery as an alternative to a total joint replacement are my areas of expertise.

I have always been interested in working with my hands. My father owned a small business where we made custom cabinets, and little did I know that those skills would apply to medicine. My interest in medicine grew while in college, specifically foot and ankle. Once I applied and was accepted, I knew I would return to my community to serve the people who influenced me as a child. I am a proud Robeson County, North Carolina native and am honored to be able to impact my community in a positive way. It is my goal and mission to improve patients quality of life and allow them to enjoy activities that can be devastated by foot and ankle ailments. Whether its sports, hiking, returning to work, or just walking; it is extremely rewarding to assist people on their journey to a better and more enjoyable life. When not at work, I enjoy golfing and spending time with my family. As someone who grew up here, it is vitally important to provide high level care to the patients in Southeastern North Carolina. I am honored to be able to provide that through UNC Health Orthopedics at Southeastern Health Park and UNC Health Southeastern.

My interest in medicine developed over time. My original plan was to study engineering in college, but I quickly realized I enjoyed learning biology, chemistry and human anatomy. I spent some time shadowing a family medicine and vascular surgeon in my free time and volunteered at a free clinic which further solidified my interest. Upon graduating from college, I worked as a med tech for a year administering medications and insulin shots and later that year was accepted to Penn State for medical school. I believe that the patient's care and interest should always come first. My goal is to advise and to provide as much information about their diagnosis and treatment options as possible in a way that is easy to understand. My hope is that this facilitates the shared decision making process so we can arrive at a treatment plan that works best for the patient. When I am not at work, I enjoy watching various sports, running and learning new things online.
