Brady C. Jefcoat spent 35 years collecting antiques, collectables, and oddities with phonographs, music boxes, and household appliances being among his favorites. The Smithsonian and North Carolina Museum of History wanted some of the items; however, Jefcoat decided to give the items to the Murfreesboro Historical Society. In their hands, he was assured the entire collection would be displayed. There are over 18,000 items on display at the museum including glassware, toasters, farm tools and equipment, period furniture, and many other items filling more than 17,000 square feet of display space.

The Jefcoat museum is a fascinating collection of everyday items from the past 150 years or so. The phonograph room is particularly memorable. Worth a visit for the sheer novelty of it.
