Ben Boles works as a physician assistant at the same clinic he visited as a child. The physicians and providers who cared for him influenced his decision to pursue medicine. Ben's parents also fostered his interest in anatomy and physiology. He believes in providing high-quality, evidence-based care to every patient at each visit. He devotes time discussing recommendations and providing education to patients regarding their illness or condition, diet, exercise, and smoking cessation. When he's not at work, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife and two dogs, Sadie and Bella, traveling to the beach and mountains, hiking, completing home projects and rooting for Appalachian State Mountaineers football and the Carolina Panthers.

Both my parents in the medical profession so, I observed first-hand the fulfillment they got from caring for their patients and their families. They were an inspiring example. Neither pushed me into medicine, but I wanted the same satisfaction they got from their careers. \n I was drawn to surgery as an avenue to impact someone's health after - and even before - the procedure. Surgery, and specifically colorectal surgery, is a field with plentiful opportunities to help patients with issues ranging from inflammatory bowel disease to cancer to diverticulitis. \n Being a physician allows me to blend my love of science and my desire to help people lead healthier lives. Medicine connects people with science - and, for me, there's nothing better. \n I want to be part of my patients' journeys to better health, so I approach healthcare in a patient-driven manner. I work to ensure my patients understand their diagnosis and the treatment plan we develop together. (I always want my patients to be actively engaged in their care.) My commitment to continuous learning, skill development and attention to detail leads to good outcomes and patient satisfaction. \n I'm a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. \n My wife, Katherine, and I live in Winston-Salem with our son and daughter. Outside the office, there's no one I'd rather spend time with than my family - and our dog. We enjoy playgrounds, hiking and walking and all types of sports - whether we're playing or just watching. I also enjoy cooking and grilling for a big group of family and friends.
