Surgery, and specifically colorectal surgery, is a field with plentiful opportunities to help patients with issues ranging from inflammatory bowel disease to cancer to diverticulitis. \n Being a physician allows me to blend my love of science and my desire to help people lead healthier lives. Medicine connects people with science - and, for me, there's nothing better. \n I want to be part of my patients' journeys to better health, so I approach healthcare in a patient-driven manner. I work to ensure my patients understand their diagnosis and the treatment plan we develop together. (I always want my patients to be actively engaged in their care.) My commitment to continuous learning, skill development and attention to detail leads to good outcomes and patient satisfaction. \n I'm a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. \n My wife, Katherine, and I live in Winston-Salem with our son and daughter. Outside the office, there's no one I'd rather spend time with than my family - and our dog. We enjoy playgrounds, hiking and walking and all types of sports - whether we're playing or just watching. I also enjoy cooking and grilling for a big group of family and friends.
