Neither pushed me into medicine, but I wanted the same satisfaction they got from their careers. \n I was drawn to surgery as an avenue to impact someone's health after - and even before - the procedure. Surgery, and specifically colorectal surgery, is a field with plentiful opportunities to help patients with issues ranging from inflammatory bowel disease to cancer to diverticulitis. \n Being a physician allows me to blend my love of science and my desire to help people lead healthier lives. Outside the office, there's no one I'd rather spend time with than my family - and our dog. We enjoy playgrounds, hiking and walking and all types of sports - whether we're playing or just watching. I also enjoy cooking and grilling for a big group of family and friends.
