He continued on to a fellowship at Weill Cornell concentrating in endovascular neurosurgery/interventional neuroradiology.Dr. Link has a passion for research and innovation, striving to advance the field of neurosurgery in order to provide better care for patients. He is currently the lead investigator on two clinical trials involving a minimally invasive alternative and adjunct to surgery for chronic subdural hematomas, a procedure which he helped develop and has the potential to significantly improve patient outcomes. He also started a novel clinical trial investigating the use of intra-arterial neuroprotective substances in stroke intervention. He prides himself on practicing medicine that is led by interpersonal relationship and patient-centered care.Dr. Link is a member of various professional neurosurgical organizations, including the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), and Society of Neuro-interventional Surgeons (SNIS). He has an extensive list of peer reviewed publications to his credit, including works for Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery, Operative Neurosurgery, World Neurosurgery, Interventional Neuroradiology, Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, and Cell Medicine. Mark Eisenberg, MD, joined Northwell Health in 2005 after nine years in private practice. He is now chief of neurosurgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and the founder and director of the Skull Base Center, which is part of the Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery. The center advances the field through innovative techniques and approaches. After graduating from University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Eisenberg completed his residency training in neurosurgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Following residency, he completed a skull base surgery fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. His area of expertise is neurological disease, with a focus on robotic and minimally invasive approaches to skull base and spinal surgery, as well as management and surgical treatment of degenerative spine disorders. "The types of techniques we use at the Skull Base Center take years to hone and practice, and I enjoy bringing that experience to my patient care, as well as training residents and neurosurgeons around the country, and even around the world," he says. As associate professor of neurosurgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, Dr. Eisenberg teaches courses in skull base surgery and minimally invasive spinal surgery. For the past several years, he's been recognized as one of Castle Connolly's Top Doctors.Dr. Eisenberg has published research in numerous publications and written a comprehensive textbook, The Cavernous Sinus, which provides surgeons with clear, evidence-based direction on performing successful operative procedures with microsurgical instrumentation. The textbook also covers anatomy, diagnosis and treatment, as well as insights on vascular, traumatic, inflammatory and neuroplastic diseases of the cavernous sinus. In addition to providing that same level of clarity in every patient interaction, Dr. Eisenberg appreciates the high level of collaboration and expertise that sets Northwell apart. "Northwell has become the epicenter for the highest levels of neurosurgical care, especially in the region and possibly in the whole tri-state area," he says. "Our expertise makes it easy to take care of complex patients and complex conditions, because we have great subspecialties that all come together here."
