Terry A Alexander, FNP - NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Hudson Valley-Cold Spring

Terry Alexander has been a family nurse practitioner for more than 30 years. She practices traditional internal medicine, but believes in a holistic approach, utilizing alternative methods of healing. Terry is well-known for her sense of humor, as well as for her compassionate care. Her hobbies include meditation, hiking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lives in Peekskill with her extended family, and has been working with Dr. Ligenza in Cold Spring for many years. “Medicine is an art and a science. Caring for other most importantly means to listen.”

Joanne Mazzio, CNM, NP, MS, is a certified nurse midwife specializing in gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Hudson Valley. Dedicated to a personalized and holistic model of care, Joanne provides safe and compassionate midwifery services for women of all ages. She has worked in the Hudson Valley community for more than two decades. Joanne graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in nursing from Lehman College of The City University of New York, where her initial interest in women’s health care and midwifery was sparked. After working as a public health nurse in her home community of the Bronx, she worked at a high-risk maternity unit. There, she gained the experience and skills that would serve as a foundation for her career as a midwife. Joanne graduated with honors from the Midwifery Education Program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and later completed her master’s in midwifery at Downstate University. Joanne initially worked in a hospital setting where she headed the adolescent prenatal program and provided care to underserved women and teens in childbirth. After seven years, she went on to join a private practice providing full scope midwifery care, including both well woman gynecology and obstetrical care to women of the Hudson Valley.

Maria Rosato, CNM began her professional career as a labor and delivery nurse at Albert Einstein Hospital in the Bronx, after graduating with a BSN from Lehman College in N.Y. It was there, that she was introduced to the compassionate care of midwives, and realized, that this was her calling. After her three children had started school, she pursued her midwifery education at SUNY Downstate, in Brooklyn N.Y, where she graduated with honors. Maria then dedicated the next nineteen years to providing obstetrical and gynecologic care to a diverse, underserved population in the Bronx, empowering women and providing positive birth experiences. After the birth of her fourth child, attended by Joanne Mazzio, Maria entertained the possibility of practicing in Westchester County, with her long time friend and colleague. She is now honored to be part of NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Hudson Valley. Maria brings with her, years of experience, and is excited to offer the women of Westchester County personalized, and full scope midwife care.
