Dr. Higgins serves as the Vice President and Regional Executive Medical Director of the New York Presbyterian Medical Group in Hudson Valley and Westchester. Prior to this, he served as the Vice President of Medical Affairs at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital since 2011. Over the years, Dr. Higgins has been active on many committees including Peer Review, Credentialing, Bylaws, Ethics and others.Apart from his administrative duties, Dr. Higgins has maintained a thriving medical practice with his wife, Ellen, a Nurse Practitioner in the NYPMG, for 26 years. He was a clinical preceptor at New York Medical College in Valhalla. Dr. Higgins is well respected in Hudson Valleys senior community and was appointed by the Governor of the State of New York to sit on New York State Coordinating Council for Services Related to Alzheimers Disease and Other Dementias. He is a past director of the Hudson Valley region of the Alzheimers Association.Dr. Higgins obtained his Medical Degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and did his residency and fellowship training at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Joanne Mazzio, CNM, NP, MS, is a certified nurse midwife specializing in gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Hudson Valley. Dedicated to a personalized and holistic model of care, Joanne provides safe and compassionate midwifery services for women of all ages. She has worked in the Hudson Valley community for more than two decades. Joanne graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in nursing from Lehman College of The City University of New York, where her initial interest in women’s health care and midwifery was sparked. After working as a public health nurse in her home community of the Bronx, she worked at a high-risk maternity unit. There, she gained the experience and skills that would serve as a foundation for her career as a midwife. Joanne graduated with honors from the Midwifery Education Program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and later completed her master’s in midwifery at Downstate University. Joanne initially worked in a hospital setting where she headed the adolescent prenatal program and provided care to underserved women and teens in childbirth. After seven years, she went on to join a private practice providing full scope midwifery care, including both well woman gynecology and obstetrical care to women of the Hudson Valley.

Dr. Hametz is board certified in internal medicine (cardiovascular disease) and the Chair of Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. He graduated from Cornell University and received his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Following that Dr. Hametz completed a fellowship at North Shore University Hospital.
