Middlesex County Clerk s Office, also known as the Keeper of the Records, is one of the oldest offices in the state of New Jersey. It is responsible for a variety of functions, including the issuance of county identification cards and filing of trade name certificates and military discharges. The office swears in and certifies notaries, as well as records documents related to the purchase and sale of real estate. Middlesex County Clerk s Office also files subdivision maps and issues veteran peddler licenses. It operates a registry division that maintains various land ownership records, such as deeds, mortgages, maps, liens, releases, easements, trade names and assignments. The office also has an elections division that performs a variety of functions related to voter lists, absentee ballots and election law enforcement reports.
