Life's WORC is a private, nonprofit agency that provides comprehensive support to people with various developmental disabilities, including mental retardation and autism. Founded in 1971, the agency manages more than 30 homes and over 10 nonresidential programs throughout Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties in New York. Its residential program supports nearly 2,000 individuals. The program serves individuals between the ages of 18 and 60. It offers physical, occupational and speech therapies. Life's WORC also provides community services for approximately 1,000 participants and their families. The agency offers the Stepping Into Adulthood Program. It manages social work and clinical departments. Life's WORC s Entitlements Department provides social security and supplemental security income services. The agency operates under the sponsorship of New York States Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD).
