Marc S. Eisenberg, MD

Dr. Eisig is Chief of the Hospital Dental Service at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, the George Guttmann Professor of Clinical Craniofacial Surgery and Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the hospital, and Chair of Hospital Dentistry at Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine. He received his dental degree from New York University and then completed his general dental internship and residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, and New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center, respectively. Dr. Eisig received additional training as the maxillofacial surgery fellow at Shock Trauma at the University of Maryland Hospital. Dr. Eisig is the Section Editor for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Journal and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He volunteers abroad by treating patients with cleft lip and palate on Healing the Children missions to South American countries. He practices full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a particular interest in orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery), craniofacial and cleft palate surgery, maxillofacial pathology and reconstruction and implant surgery, and pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Eisig's principal research interests are in stem cell cranofacial regeneration and he has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals and book chapters.

An expert in rhinology & minimally invasive skull base surgery, Dr. Jonathan Overdevest focuses on therapies and procedures that restore sinonasal function. He specializes in managing the care of patients suffering from symptoms of chronic rhinosinusitis, nasal obstruction, chronic nose bleeds, sinonasal and intracranial skull base tumors, as well as eye issues such as excessive tearing. Dr. Overdevest completed his rhinology and skull base fellowship training at Stanford University, and his Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery residency at UCSF (University of California, San Francisco). While training, he was recognized for his “exceptional warmth, compassion, and service to patients,” with numerous awards, including a coveted AOA Outstanding Resident Award, the Julius R. Krevans Award for Clinical Excellence, recognition as an exquisite provider as the Surgical Consultant of the Year, and was named a UCSF Medical Center Outstanding Physician Award finalist. Before his medical training at UCSF, he graduated from the University of Virginia, where he received both his MD, as well as a PhD for my doctoral research where the team identified and subsequently developed an immunologic therapy to target a key molecule involved in the metastatic migration of tumor cells. His undergraduate training was completed at Cornell University, where he was a Cornell Tradition & Francis S. Viele Fellow prior to graduating cum laude and with distinction. Dr. Overdevest believes in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care, and regularly participates in collaborative management of patients with various Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Allergy, and Pulmonology colleagues. In particular, he works in close collaboration with our neurosurgical team to assist with the removal of brain tumors that are accessible through a minimally invasive corridor created through the nasal cavity. Our practice at Columbia seeks to provide a compassionate and comprehensive setting for patients with sinonasal complaints. As a team, we will reduce the severity of your daily symptoms and work to improve your ability to overcome the underlying cause of your sinonasal disorder. When not engaged in his medical practice, he lives with his family, a stone’s throw away from the American Museum of Natural History, where they regularly go whale watching. He is avid alpine skier who tries to keep up with his 70-year-old in-laws, as well as an endurance cyclist looking to soak in the spectacles of all seven continents.

Dr. Debkumar Sarkar, DO, MBA, FSIR is a board-certified interventional radiologist. He is an assistant professor of radiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and an attending radiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Sarkar serves as director of outpatient interventional radiology services for the Department of Radiology. Dr. Sarkar has extensive experience in interventional oncology and cancer diagnosis and treatment. He is locally and nationally renowned for treatment of metastatic tumors in the liver, lung, and kidneys. Dr. Sarkar has extensive experience with minimally invasive techniques including Y90 radioembolization, microwave ablation, cryoablation, and histotripsy for primary and metastatic cancers including hepatocellular carcinoma, colon cancer, and metastatic breast cancer. In addition to cancer therapy, Dr. Sarkar brings expertise in the treatment of venous disorders including deep venous thrombosis, venous thromboembolism, and vascular insufficiency. Dr. Sarkar has extensive experience treating complex biliary disorders and performs cholangioscopy. He is also very experienced in women’s health treatments for pelvic pain related to fibroids and pelvic congestion syndrome. Dr. Sarkar performs pain management and spine related procedures such as vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty. He also works in conjunction with urologists in the treatment of male infertility and urinary obstruction. Dr. Sarkar completed his undergraduate training in biomedical engineering at Northwestern University. He completed medical school training at Rowan University, followed by a Masters in Business Administration from University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dr. Sarkar completed an internship at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a residency in diagnostic radiology at Cooper University Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center of NJ in Camden, NJ. He subsequently completed a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology and interventional oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical Center/New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Sarkar served as chief of interventional radiology at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn and subsequently joined the faculty at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before being recruited to Columbia. Dr. Sarkar has published on numerous topics in IR including treatment of metastatic cancers in the liver with radioembolization and ablation and various topics involving robotics, artificial intelligence, and informatics. He is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology and the Society of Interventional Oncology where he serves on several national committees including the SIR Economics committee and the expert consensus panel for management of pulmonary embolism.
