Lawrence G Lenke, MD

Dr. McCormick is the Gallen Professor of Neurological Surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is also the Director of The Och Spine Hospital at The Neurological Institute of New York and an attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. His clinical and research interests focus exclusively on the evaluation, surgical management, and outcomes assessment of patients with disorders of the spine and spinal cord. He is a world-renowned spinal neurosurgeon and recognized expert in the surgical management of spinal disorders including spinal cord tumors, vascular malformations, herniated cervical and lumbar discs, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, microsurgery, arthroplasty, and spinal stabilization and fusion for traumatic and degenerative spinal instability and deformity. Dr. McCormick graduated from Columbia University and received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He performed research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and trained in Neurological Surgery at the prestigious Neurological Institute of New York. He performed a one-year complex spine surgery fellowship at Medical College of Wisconsin and returned to the Neurological Institute of New York to join the neurosurgical staff as the first neurosurgeon to dedicate his practice entirely to the treatment of patients with spinal disorders. In the 25 years of practice, Dr. McCormick has performed nearly 7000 spinal procedures on patients from around the world but with special emphasis on patients from tri-state area. Dr. McCormick has received numerous awards including the prestigious Columbia College 2007 John Jay award for professional achievement, the 2009 Joint Spine Section Meritorious Service award, and was an honored lecturer at national, international, and institutional events on numerous occasions. He has consistently been named as one of New York’s best doctors since 2001 and for the last several years has been named as one of Castle Connolly’s America’s Top Doctors, America’s Top Doctors for Cancer, and Top Doctors: New York Metro Area.

Dr. Mandigo earned his medical doctorate from the College of Physicians and Surgeons where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his Neurological Surgery Internship, Residency and Chief Residency at the Neurological Institute of New York, Columbia University. Dr. Mandigo's practice is devoted to spinal deformity, degenerative spine disease, intervertebral disc disease, spinal column tumors and spinal cord tumors. Dr. Mandigo uses minimally invasive techniques for spinal surgery including the use of narrow tube retractor systems for cervical and lumbar microdiscectomy and spinal fusion. He also has expertise in artificial disc replacement surgery in the cervical spine. He has particular expertise evaluating and, if required, treating disorders of spinal alignment such as scoliosis or sagittal imbalance. Roger Härtl, M.D., is the Hansen-MacDonald Professor of Neurological Surgery and Director of Spinal Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine, as well as Neurosurgical Director, Och Spine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He is also the founder and director of Och Spine at NewYork-Presbyterian at the Weill Cornell Medicine Center for Comprehensive Spine Care as well as Weill Cornell Medicine's Global Neurosurgery Initiative in Tanzania (for which he was named AANS Humanitarian of the Year for 2022). He also serves as the official neurosurgeon for the New York Giants Football Team. In 1994 Dr. Härtl came to the Weill Cornell Medical College as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Surgery and the Brain Trauma Foundation to pursue research in traumatic brain and spinal cord injury. He completed another fellowship in neurocritical care at the Charite Hospital of the Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany, followed by a surgical internship and residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He completed his neurosurgery residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, after which he pursued specialized training in complex spine surgery at the Barrow's Neurological Institute in Phoenix under Dr. Volker Sonntag. In 2004 Dr. Härtl returned to re-join the Department of Neurosurgery at Weill Cornell Medical College.RESEARCHDr. Härtl's scientific interest focuses on clinical and basic science research surrounding innovative and less invasive surgical and biological treatment strategies for degenerative diseases of the spine. Together with the Biomedical Engineering Department at Cornell he is working on tissue-engineering techniques for the repair and regeneration of degenerated spinal discs, the most common cause of back and neck pain. Dr. Härtl has lectured and published extensively on the surgical treatment of spinal disorders, and neurotrauma.
