Dr. Kovacs is a board-certified retina specialist and St. Giles Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Kovacs specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of vitreoretinal diseases, including conditions such as retinal detachment, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, trauma, endophthalmitis, vitreous hemorrhage, retinal degenerations and dystrophies, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), and secondary intraocular lenses.Dr. Kovacs has lived his whole life in the Northeast, growing up on Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor line. A native of New Jersey, he graduated cum laude from Harvard College. He received his M.D. with distinction in clinical research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was also elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha academic honor society and a recipient of the Jesse S Weissberg Scholarship for Academic Excellence.Dr. Kovacs then completed his Internship Training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He completed Residency Training in Ophthalmology at Yale School of Medicine / Yale New Haven Hospital, followed by Fellowship Training in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College / New York – Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Kovacs was selected to serve as Chief Resident during the final year of his residency at Yale, and received multiple awards during his training including Yale ophthalmology resident research awards in 2017 and 2018, New York Academy of Medicine resident research award in 2017, and the Yale Department of Ophthalmology Marvin Sears Award recognizing clinical and surgical excellence.Dr. Kovacs is actively engaged in clinical and basic science research in retinal diseases and has published approximately 50 peer-reviewed research articles. He has authored several textbook chapters and has regularly presents his research at national and international meetings. Dr. Kovacs also serves as scientific reviewer to several major ophthalmology journals.Dr. Kovacs is also actively involved in resident and fellow education and serves as the retina fellowship director at Weill Cornell.Dr. Kovacs is currently accepting new patients. “Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food” – HippocratesRachel Stahl Salzman has been with New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine for over 10 years since she began her dietetic internship at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP), and following the internship, a Nutrition Fellowship in Digestive Diseases and Culinary Nutrition. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and Master’s of Science Degree in Clinical Nutrition from New York University.Rachel’s clinical focus is on using individualized nutrition therapy strategies and behavior modification, diabetes technology, and digital healthcare to achieve better health outcomes. She places an emphasis on person-centered team-based care to help individuals develop and sustain positive behavior change.Rachel has been invited as a speaker at multiple regional and national conferences including the American Diabetes Association’s Scientific Sessions and the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists Annual Conference. She has also been quoted in publications such as U.S. News and World Report and published in professional journals on topics related to nutrition and diabetes.An active member in the nutrition and diabetes professional communities, she has served in numerous leadership positions. She is currently the Technology Chair of the Diabetes Dietetic Practice Group and President-Elect of the Metropolitan New York Chapter of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES). Rachel is a proud recipient of the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year through the New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and 2022 Rising Star Award from ADCES.

Dr. Pak H. Chung is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine at the Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine (CRM) at Weill Cornell Medical College. He is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.Born in Hong Kong, Dr. Chung completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1994 and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at University of South Florida in 1996. He joined CRM immediately after fellowship training. Fluent in Chinese, he treats many Asian-American couples and those who travel from Asia for infertility treatment or surgery. His office has very helpful bilingual staff and patient literature.Dr. Chung offers the full range of treatments in reproductive medicine. He specializes in in vitro fertilization (IVF), surgical treatment of reproductive disorders using laparoscopy and hysteroscopy and treatment of recurrent pregnancy loss.He has lectured worldwide on various topics in reproductive medicine before medical and patient groups and has authored or co-authored many peer-reviewed articles in leading scientific medical journals. He supports infertility patient groups in the United States and Hong Kong.Dr. Chung has been very involved in the Chinese American medical communities. He was President of the Chinese American Medical Society from 2005-2007, a national medical organization of over 1000 physicians of Chinese descent. He was a Director of the Federations of the Chinese Medical Societies. Currently he is a Board of Director of the Chinatown Health Clinic Foundation, the only non-profit medical facility delivering health care to the Chinese speaking population in the Greater New York area.Dr. Chung sees patients at CRM's Manhattan office.
