The New Paltz Fire Department works to provide fire protection, rescue, hazardous material response and emergency medical services. It houses engines, aerial ladders, water tankers, command vehicles, rescue squads, paramedic units, brush trucks, ambulances, and rescue vans and cars. The department serves more than 16,000 people living in an area of over 50 square miles. The New Paltz Fire Department provides information regarding fire prevention and suppression. It is comprised of nearly 50 firefighters and emergency medical personnel. The New Paltz Fire Department has a communication center that coordinates responses to various emergency calls for services. It works under the government of New Paltz in New York.
