The House on Henry Street is a permanent, interactive exhibition on the history of Henry Street Settlement and the people who shaped the Lower East Side from our founding in 1893 to the present. The exhibit illuminates themes of social activism, urban poverty, public health, and the Progressive Era. Open Monday-Friday, 9 am- 6 pm

16 years in the city and first time visitor to this building. It's a must for anybody interested in the history of the Lower East Side, and the beginnings of social services in New York City....

Most of the people who work there are racists. They mistreat you and treat you like you're crazy and they have no compassion for people. How sorry would the founders who created this foundation...

I love this place. I had friends who went here as children for day care and now i've volunteered there several times over the last year. It's an awesome place where children are taught english...
