The Hebrew Free Burial Association (HFBA) in New York City is dedicated to providing dignified, traditional Jewish funerals and burials for indigent Jews, regardless of financial means or religious affiliation. Since the 1880s, HFBA has performed over 65,000 burials for individuals of all ages who may have passed away in various circumstances.

HFBA's mission is rooted in the concept of chesed shel emet, the ultimate act of lovingkindness for the deceased who cannot repay the kindness. Through their services, they ensure that every individual receives a respectful farewell, whether they have passed in a hospital, nursing home, or even on the streets of New York.
