Brian Joo, M.D.

Karen Teresa Brown, M.D. is a board-certified radiologist specializing in interventional Radiology. She is a sessional Professor of Clinical Radiology at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Attending Radiologist at the NewYork-PresbyterianHospital-Weill Cornell Campus.Dr. Brown graduated from the University of Michigan where she earned her B.A.in 1973. She then received her M.D. in 1979 from the Boston University School of medicine.Dr. Brown completed her residency in General Surgery at Emory UniversitySchool of Medicine from 1979-1980. She then completed her fellowship in Diagnostic Radiology and Vascular Radiology at Harvard Medical School in 1985. After subsequent years in clinical practice, Dr. Brown joined the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine in September 2022 as a Professor of Clinical Radiology.Dr. Brown’s clinical expertise is in Interventional Radiology. Dr. Brown’s research interests include, but not limited to hepatobiliary oncology, specifically hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) trans-arterial therapy for HCC, specifically investigation of the specific factors that influence response to treatment from these treatments. She has also been actively involved in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Maria Grigovich, M.D. is a fellowship-trained radiologist with specialization in Abdominal Imaging. She is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Radiologist at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine.Dr. Grigovich graduated from I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University in Moscow, Russia where she earned her M.D. with Honors in 2012. After completing a Radiology residency in Russia in 2014, Dr. Grigovich relocated to the United States. Following an internship in Internal Medicine at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, she completed a Diagnostic Radiology residency at Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA in 2022 where she served as a chief resident and earned the RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award.Dr. Grigovich completed a fellowship in Abdominal Imaging at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine in 2023. She joined the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine in August 2023 as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology and a member of the Body Imaging Division.Dr. Grigovich has clinical expertise in abdominopelvic imaging. She interprets CT, MRI, radiography, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy studies of the abdomen and pelvis, as well as PET/CT and PET/MRI imaging.Her clinical and research interests include advanced liver imaging, gynecologic imaging, and sonography, including contrast-enhanced ultrasound.Dr. Grigovich is actively involved in teaching residents, fellows, and medical students.

Shawn Ma, MD is a physician specializing in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Radiologist at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine Campus.Dr. Ma earned a B.A. in Biological Science in 2015 from Cornell University, where he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He then earned his M.D. in 2019 from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.Following a general surgery preliminary year at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, Dr. Ma returned to the University of Pennsylvania for his integrated Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology residency program, graduating in 2025. During this time, he served as Chief Resident in 2022-2023 and completed an Imaging Informatics Fellowship in 2024.Dr. Ma joined the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine in July 2025 as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology, as a member the Interventional Radiology Division.
