I focus my dermatology practice on skin cancer. In particular, I see patients with rare lymphomas of the skin (cutaneous T cell lymphoma or cutaneous B cell lymphoma) and patients who are at high risk of developing skin cancer due to either a suppressed immune system (organ transplant recipients or patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia) or other genetic factors. I collaborate with other specialists to provide coordinated multidisciplinary care, while I work with my patients to create a skin cancer management and prevention plan that best fits their needs.I am a member of the United States Cutaneous Lymphoma Consortium and the International immunosuppression and Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative which allows me to actively collaborate with physicians who have similar interests. I am grateful to be able to develop relationships with and learn from my patients over time, teach residents and medical students about rare skin disorders, and participate in research to help advance our knowledge within the field of cutaneous oncology.

My goals are to be in partnership with my patients, to treat them holistically, and to provide them with education and empowerment over their health care choices. I value building relationships with my patients throughout their lifespan. I believe that the health of the family affects the health of the individual and vice versa. I listen carefully to my patients and their families to understand what health and wellness mean to them. By developing a trusting relationship with the patient and their family, we can create a health care plan that addresses their goals, promotes health and prevents illness.

As a practicing physician for over 25 years, I have found that medicine is not a precise science. While it is important to keep current with the latest evidence, there is usually more than one option when ordering diagnostic tests or prescribing treatments. My role is to provide my patients with options to choose from that are supported by best evidence and to be present at times when my patients feel vulnerable due to a health condition.
