Veazie Waste Water Treatment Plant
The Veazie Sewer District operates a three-cell aerated lagoon system capable of treating up to 350,000 gallons of sanitary sewage per day, serving approximately 2,000 residents in Veazie, Maine. Established in August 1989, the facility is recognized for its ease of operation, low energy consumption, and flexibility, with future expansion capabilities and the use of onsite soils for lagoon liners.
The system includes a 10-mile collection network and one pump station, with the first lagoon holding up to 3 million gallons, while the second and third lagoons each manage up to 1.5 million gallons. The Veazie Sewer District has been honored with the Richard B. Goodenow Award for excellence in operations and maintenance by the Maine Wastewater Control Association.
