Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation
Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation, founded in 1982, is the first adaptive ski organization in Maine and was established by Dr. Omar Chip Crothers and Leslie B. Otten. Originally starting with just 8 participants and 2 volunteers at Sunday River, the organization has grown significantly to serve over 400 participants annually, supported by over 450 volunteers.
Today, Maine Adaptive offers a wide range of winter and summer sports programs, including alpine skiing, snowboarding, cycling, and pickleball, with a focus on enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities. The organization aims to promote self-confidence and physical strength among participants, fostering a lifelong engagement in sports and outdoor activities with family and friends.
