Thomas E. McCormick, M.D., is a pediatrician with Norton Children’s Medical Group – Hikes Point, and serves on the medical executive committee for pediatrics at Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in pediatrics, and served as administrative chief resident. Dr. McCormick strives to create a comfortable environment for children during their medical visits, often using humor to put them at ease. He understands the importance of respecting parents’ concerns and enjoys engaging with families, recognizing that their children are the most important part of their lives. Next to being with his family, his greatest joy is feeling he has helped someone during a difficult time. A Louisville native, Dr. McCormick serves as a team doctor for his alma mater, St. Xavier High School. Outside of work, he leads a busy life, but still finds time to go on vacation with his wife. They are always available for their four children and grandchildren, which brings them joy and occupies much of their time. Dr. McCormick is involved in various ministries at his parish, St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church. Although not good at golf, he still enjoys the walk.

Laura K. Jacks, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in pediatric orthopedics. In addition to offering a full range of pediatric orthopedic care for children, Dr. Jacks has special interests in cerebral palsy and neuromuscular diseases; congenital conditions, such as dislocated hip, clubfoot, arthrogryposis and other malformations; and pediatric trauma. Dr. Jacks earned her medical degree from the Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and completed a general orthopedic surgery residency at University of South Carolina’s Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia. Dr. Jacks completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery and became involved with gait analysis and treatment of cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular disorders at the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Greenville, South Carolina. She was on staff at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and directed its Motion Analysis Lab for 2½ years before joining Norton Children’s Orthopedics of Louisville in 2002. Dr. Jacks’ mission is focused on helping children reach their maximum function possible. She uses a team approach to care for patients with complex orthopedic conditions. Participating in multidisciplinary clinics allows Dr. Jacks to work together with physicians and therapists to provide cohesive, integrated care in as few patient visits as possible. Dr. Jacks is medical director of the Kid’s Center for Pediatric Therapies in Louisville. She provides consultative and surgical services to the Home of the Innocents and treats children with fragile bone diseases at the Metabolic Bone Clinic. Dr. Jacks and her partners also provide services through the Kentucky Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs in Louisville and Owensboro, Kentucky. Away from the office Dr. Jacks spends as much time as she can with her husband and son. They enjoy sports, outdoor activities and traveling in their RV. They are avid football fans and like to tailgate at University of Louisville games. Although football is her favorite sport, Dr. Jacks and her family also enjoy soccer and cycling. Dr. Jacks has been voted by her peers as one of Louisville Magazine’s Top Docs for 2019.
