Virginia F. Barbosa, M.D., is a pediatric psychiatrist with Norton Children’s Behavioral & Mental Health, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of Brasília School of Medicine (Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de Brasilia), Brazil. She completed her adult psychiatry residencies at the State University of Campinas (Universidade Estadual de Campinas/UNICAMP), Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the University of Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Barbosa completed her child and adolescent fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is board certified in adult psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Kentucky Psychiatric Medical Association. In caring for her patients, Dr. Barbosa’s goals include providing an accurate diagnosis, offering the best treatment alternatives and assisting children/adolescents and their parents in navigating the complexities of life and school. She listens empathetically to their goals to help them achieve a happy and healthy life.
