David E. Tate Jr., M.D., earned his medical degree and completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He then completed an arthritis fellowship with the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, and a hand surgery fellowship with the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Micro Surgery in Louisville. Dr. Tate is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery with a certificate of added qualification in surgery of the hand. In addition to offering surgical and nonsurgical care for injuries and conditions affecting the upper extremities, Dr. Tate has special interests in treating arthritis, Dupuytren’s contracture, nerve compression and fractures and dislocations of the elbow and wrist. His treatment approach involves an individualized care plan for each patient. Dr. Tate is actively involved in research focused on developing cutting-edge technologies and rehabilitation for patients as well as working to improve care for years to come.Dr. Tate is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Association for Hand Surgery, the American College of Surgeons and the Hospital for Special Surgery Alumni Association. He is chairman of the Historian and Museum Curator Committee of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He also is an editorial reviewer for the journal Injury and the Journal of Hand Surgery, American Volume. Away from the office Dr. Tate enjoys spending time with his children, long distance running, reading, music and studying languages.

Jamie A. Shoup, M.D., is a pediatric epilepsy neurologist with Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he also completed residencies in pediatrics and child neurology, and an epilepsy fellowship. Dr. Shoup specializes in neonatal and pediatric epilepsy, with a particular interest in autism spectrum disorder. His philosophy of care is patient- and family-centered, emphasizing the importance of clear communication to establish and achieve unique care goals. Dr. Shoup is dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized care that addresses the needs and values of each patient and their family.
