The Freedom Rock, established in 1999 and located in rural Iowa, is a large boulder that is repainted annually to honor the nation's veterans. Artist Ray Bubba Sorensen II, inspired by the film "Saving Private Ryan," dedicates his time to this project with the support of family and friends, using donations to fund the initiative.

In addition to the original Freedom Rock, Sorensen has created a Freedom Rock in each of Iowa's 99 counties, expanding his vision with the 50 State Freedom Rock Tour. His work not only serves as a tribute to veterans but also aims to spread appreciation for their service across communities nationwide.
