Williams is an unincorporated town in Root Township, Adams County, Indiana. It was originally named Greenville in the 1870's(after the brothers who ran the sawmill), but they had to change it when they needed a post office because there was already a Greenville, Indiana. So, Garrett Williams proposed the current name.
