Dr. Conlon is one of only a few hundred board-certified pediatric dermatologists in the country. He and his team are dedicated to the care of children and teens with skin conditions. They understand that children and teenagers have unique skin conditions, and they tailor treatments to work best for them. He works closely with family practitioners, general pediatricians and other pediatric sub-specialists in the area. Dr. Conlon also maintains collaborative relationships with many pediatric dermatologists throughout the country. He often shares cases with them to maximize your child's care. Together, Dr. Conlon and his team will strive to help your family understand your child's skin condition and how best to manage it. A native of Springfield, he attended Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He was selected by his peers to become a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in his third year. Dr. Conlon completed his residency and fellowship training in pediatrics and pediatric dermatology at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and an additional dermatology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. While there, he received honors for his clinical expertise and teaching abilities. He remains active in the Society of Pediatric Dermatology and is a reviewer for the journal Pediatric Dermatology. His extensive training allows him to understand skin conditions unique to each age, how they affect your child, and how to best treat them (both safely and effectively). He has knowledge and experience in the use of topical, oral, systemic and biological therapies in children. It is important to Dr. Conlon that children and parents are listened to and that their questions are answered. His staff works with families as a team to make skin care as pleasant as possible for both the children and parents. Christopher Ehrlich has been a pediatrician with Springfield Clinic since 2004. He grew up in central Illinois, attending the University of Illinois for undergraduate school and Southern Illinois University for medical school and residency. He has two young children who he adores and thanks for helping him to become an even better, more well-rounded pediatrician. Dr. Ehrlich has a couple of philosophies, which are the pillars of his practice: First, he believes that one of the most critical aspects of the doctor-parent-patient relationship is good communication. He recognizes the need to listen attentively to the parent/patient. Furthermore, he wants the parent/patient to walk away from each clinic visit with clarity--knowing the diagnosis, the treatment plan and what to expect over the coming days. Second, Dr. Ehrlich emphasizes that treatment should be focused on doing what is best for the child. He is a firm believer in the science behind immunizations and the data demonstrating their effectiveness. On that note, he also believes that prescription medications, such as antibiotics and ADHD medications, are used too often. Raymond Castaldo, MD, FAAP, is with Springfield Clinic’s Pediatrics Department, seeing patients at the Springfield Clinic Pediatrics facility in Springfield and at Springfield Clinic Carlinville. Dr. Castaldo joined Springfield Clinic in 1990. Dr. Castaldo both earned his medical degree and completed his pediatrics residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield. “I deal in general pediatrics and everyday situations, but I try to have a balance between serious and fun,” says Dr. Castaldo. “I like that to compliment my practice. I take good care of my patients and make sure parents are well-informed and then sprinkle in some fun.” Dr. Castaldo’s scope of care includes comprehensive evaluation and treatment in pediatric and adolescent medicine. One fun element that Dr. Castaldo incorporates into his appointments is the ukelele. “It really makes kids feel like they’re bonding with us here,” he says. Dr. Castaldo plays upbeat songs and invites patients to try out the instrument for themselves, as well. In his free time, Dr. Castaldo loves spending time outdoors. He enjoys snowboarding, hiking, rollerblading, skiing and bike riding. He also enjoys listening to music and playing guitar.
