Located in Chicago’s West Loop, Smyth is an homage to the depth and richness of husband-and-wife chefs John Shields and Karen Shields’ five years in the farmlands of Smyth County, Virginia, where they expanded their knowledge and vision and found their culinary voice. With its three multi-course tasting menus, two Michelin-starred Smyth offers a unique take on fine dining that nudges diners out of their comfort zones with Asian-leaning flavors, interesting ingredients and intriguing pairings. Fermenting and pickling extend the seasons, providing another level of creativity and depth of flavors that’s inherently rooted in the Midwest but never limited by it. Located downstairs, sister spot The Loyalist is a neighborhood bar that offers the same warm, welcoming ambiance for which they’re known but with food and cocktails that surpass expectations.
