The Metro East Park and Recreation District ( MEPRD ) was formed by voters in November 2000, and is responsible for the development of trails and trail facilities in Madison County and St. Clair County, Illinois. The District often supplements the efforts of local governments, special districts, and other jurisdictions who are already engaged in the construction and management of these types of projects. The park district is the first of its kind in Illinois, serving over half a million residents. This place is always hoping. It is a safe place to get on the MCT trail. They have restrooms and a place to fill you water bottle. A huge map of the trail. Very easy to find and meet your group or...

The Granite City Park District has been in businesses since 1921. It serves the needs of more than 30,000 residents in Granite City in Illinois. The district consists of nearly 10 parks that are spread over an area of more than 175 acres. The Granite City Park District is responsible for providing tax levying services separate from any other governmental unit. The district has an annual operating budget of approximately $2 million. It has a staff of over 10 full-time employees. The Granite City Park District generates more than $580,000 from programs annually. It also generates over $1 million from property tax.
