Granite City Park District

The Granite City Park District has been in businesses since 1921. It serves the needs of more than 30,000 residents in Granite City in Illinois. The district consists of nearly 10 parks that are spread over an area of more than 175 acres. The Granite City Park District is responsible for providing tax levying services separate from any other governmental unit. The district has an annual operating budget of approximately $2 million. It has a staff of over 10 full-time employees. The Granite City Park District generates more than $580,000 from programs annually. It also generates over $1 million from property tax.

Belleville Parks and Recreation Department, founded in 1945, provides a range of recreational facilities and programs. It maintains various facilities that include parks, trails, and a community center and swimming pool. The department s parks offer a variety of amenities that include tennis courts, playground equipment, pavilion rentals, on-site security and restrooms. Its trails provide various activities that include walking, bicycling and in-line skating. The department also organizes various children s programs that help in improving hand-eye coordination, balance agility and sports skills. Additionally, the department organizes classes in babysitting, ballet, golf, gymnastics, karate, aerobics and scrapbooking.
