Dr. Stiefel is a fellowship trained, board certified Neurosurgeon specializing in Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery and Neurosurgical Oncology. Dr. Stiefel completed his Neurosurgery training at the University of Pennsylvania where he gained extensive experience in cerebrovascular diseases and the treatment of brain tumors at the University of Pennsylvania's Abramson Cancer Center. Following residency, Dr. Stiefel completed a fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Stiefel received additional specialty training in stereotactic radiosurgery utilizing both Cyberknife and Gamma Knife techniques for the treatment of brain tumors and vascular diseases. Dr. Stiefel's training enables him to treat vascular disorders and brain tumors with cranial and microsurgery, endovascular neurosurgery, as well as stereotactic radiosurgery. Dr. Stiefel specializes in the treatment of disorders of the blood vessels of the brain, neck and spine such as brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, arteriovenous fistulas, carotid stenosis, as well as primary brain tumors, metastatic brain tumors, and meningiomas. He performs traditional cranial neurosurgery for brain tumors, aneurysms, AVMs and cavernous malformations as well as endovascular techniques such as aneurysm coiling, stenting and flow diversion, acute stroke treatment, carotid artery stenting, transverse sinus stenting, as well as embolization of arteriovenous malformations, arteriovenous fistulas, brain tumors, head and neck tumors and subdural hematomas. Dr. Stiefel is a senior member of the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery and was awarded Subspecialty Certification in NeuroEndovascular Surgery by The Society of Neurological Surgeons Committee on Advanced Subspecialty Training. This invaluable experience afforded the opportunity during training to experience different perspectives of multiple thought leaders in the Neuro-Oncology field and their different approaches to addressing similar challenges in these complicated patients. After fellowship, he returned to the University of Michigan and practiced out of the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center for 5 ½ years. During his time on faculty, he received a MS in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis through the University of Michigan School of Public Health. During his time at Michigan, he was involved in numerous clinical trials and other clinical research projects. He served as the PI or Co-I on many industry-sponsored, cooperative group, and investigator initiated Neuro-Oncology clinical trials. In 2016 he joined the LSU Neurosurgery Department of LSU Healthcare in New Orleans as an associate professor and held the prestigious Kelsey Bradly Favrot endowed chair in Neuro-Oncology. Tasked with developing a Brain Tumor Program, LSU was the first, and at times only, brain tumor program in the state of Louisiana to offer a robust portfolio of clinical trials for people with primary brain tumors and brain metastases, providing patients in Louisiana and the Gulf South region cutting edge Neuro-Oncology care. Dr. Mammoser joined the Piedmont Brain Tumor Center in April 2023. He brings with him a wealth of clinical experience, having been in clinic practice for 19+ years, over 15 years of which has been dedicated to brain tumor patients. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Society for Neuro-Oncology and has served on numerous national committees for both ASCO and SNO. He has extensive experience in clinical research, having been the PI of over 16 clinical studies for people with brain tumors of all types, and maintains a special interest in clinical trials for treatment of primary and metastatic brain tumor and spine tumors. Instilled in him during training, and refined through years of practice, Dr. Mammoser prides himself on helping people maintain their quality of life and mitigate short and long-term effects of their diagnosis and its subsequent treatment while continuing to provide state of the art care.

Doug Farquhar, MD, MPH, is a board certified surgeon in otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgery at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. Dr. Farquhar earned his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania, while simultaneously obtaining a masters in public health. While at Thomas Jefferson, he helped to lead research into treatments for COVID-related smell loss.
