Darion Showell, DO

Amalia M. Bonano-Rios, MD, earned her medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she served as Chief Resident. She received her undergraduate degree in Cellular & Molecular Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, and is board certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible in Medical Oncology and Hematology. She completed her fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, Florida. Dr. Bonano-Rios focuses on the care of patients with solid tumors, including breast and lung cancers, as well as high-risk and hereditary cancer syndromes. Her special interests include precision medicine, molecular oncology, immuno-oncology, integrating technology into oncology practice, and leading quality improvement initiatives. She provides treatments such as chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, endocrine therapy, and survivorship care. In her free time, Dr. Bonano-Rios enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching history documentaries, and attending concerts and stand-up comedy shows.

Dr. Evan Weitman, M.D., FACS, is a Surgical Oncologist at Piedmont Healthcare. Dr. Weitman earned his medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and completed his residency in General Surgery at New York University. During his residency he also completed a 2-year research fellowship to study lymphedema at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He finalized his formal training with an additional 2-year fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Weitman is board-certified in General Surgery and board-certified in Complex General Surgical Oncology by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Weitman is also Director of the Piedmont Melanoma and Sarcoma Clinic. Dr. Weitman’s clinical focus is in surgical oncology; including the management of skin cancers such as melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and merkel cell carcinoma. His special interests include the surgical management of locally advanced melanoma with a multimodality approach using oncolytic viral therapy (TVEC). He also has expertise in the surgical management of soft tissue tumors, gastrointestinal tumors including gastric and pancreatic cancer, and neuroendocrine tumors. Dr. Weitman also has formal training in minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Weitman has published numerous papers about the impact and surgical management of complex melanoma and has also published extensively on lymphedema, swelling of the extremity that can occur after lymph node surgery. Dr. Jessica Cioffi, M.D., FACS, is a hepatobiliary surgeon at Piedmont Hospital. Dr. Cioffi earned her medical degree at the University of Vermont. She completed her general surgery training and residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She finalized her training with an additional fellowship in HepatoPancreatoBiliary Surgery at Indiana University. Dr. Cioffi is board-certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the Pancreas Club, the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, and the Association of Women Surgeons. Dr. Cioffi's clinical focus is in hepatobiliary surgery, including cancer of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and biliary system. She also focuses on benign disease processes including acute and chronic pancreatitis, liver cysts and tumors, gallbladder disease, and general surgical procedures in the setting of cirrhosis. Dr. Cioffi also has formal training in minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Cioffi is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans.
