Michael S. Porrazzo, M.D., is a board-certified radiation oncologist at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute. He has more than 30 years of experience utilizing radiation therapy to treat a wide range of cancers, including prostate, breast, head and neck, skin and lung. He has clinical expertise in stereotactic radiosurgery, intensity modulated radiotherapy, transperineal prostate implantation, mammosite breast radiotherapy, cardiovascular radiotherapy and interstitial brachytherapy. Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Porrazzo served as the medical director of radiation oncology and clinical assistant professor of radiation oncology at Beaufort Memorial New River Cancer Center in Okatie, S.C. Dr. Porrazzo earned his medical degree at Meharry Medical College in Nashville. He completed an internal medicine internship at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and a radiation oncology residency at SUNY- Health Science Center, State University Hospital in Brooklyn. As a clinician-educator, Dr. Porrazzo is committed to educating the next generation of healthcare professionals. He also contributes to the medical community as a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology. To help his patients make the best choices for their unique health situation, Dr. Porrazzo strives to put them at ease, prioritizes their goals and expectations and provides them with education and support. He serves as his patients’ trusted companion during their cancer journey. During his free time, Dr. Porrazzo enjoys spending time with his three adult children, collecting miniature cars and rescuing dogs.

He also has published dozens of articles in peer reviewed journals, including Journal of Clinical Oncology, International Journal of Particle Therapy and International Journal of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Fagundes received his medical degree from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and completed a radiation oncology residency at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital – Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. He also completed a fellowship in radiation oncology at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, in Boston. He gained teaching experience as an assistant professor of radiation oncology at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, and currently trains his peers on an innovative treatment protocol for prostate cancer. Before joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Fagundes was medical director of the Provision Center for Proton Therapy in Knoxville, Tennessee.
